About

Developmental psychologist turned AI innovator. After two decades studying how babies learn—from language acquisition to the developmental role of laughter—I’m now Chief Insights Officer at PlayTandem.com, revolutionizing early childhood education through AI.

My research journey took me from directing the InfantLab at Goldsmiths to currently leading machine learning initiatives with the Global Parenting Initiative, co-supervising 2 PhD students at Stellenbosch University using AI to assess mother-infant interactions in low-resource settings. My work bridges rigorous science with real-world impact: from computational models of infant behavior to writing “The Laughing Baby,” creating “The Happy Song” with Grammy-winner Imogen Heap, and developing the “Babies Laugh” picture book series published by Campbell Books. I’m passionate about translating developmental science into practical tools—whether that’s AI-powered educational platforms, evidence-based parenting resources, or books that help babies and families thrive. My unconventional path from city trader to chef to programmer to psychologist gives me a unique perspective on learning, adaptation, and innovation across diverse contexts.
