Research Interests

Emily’s research investigates the neural and micro-behavioural processes that support infants’ engagement in real-world social interactions. During her PhD at the Institute for the Science of Early Years and Youth (University of East London), Emily developed techniques to record fluctuations in infant brain activity during free-flowing interactions with their caregiver. As a postdoctoral researcher on the STAARS project at the CBCD, Emily intends to use these methods to examine how variations in early-stage sensory processing influence the development of typical and atypical inter-personal communication.
